Abstract

JBS Haldane was a generalist who bridged diverse branches of science such as genetics and evolutionary biology, biochemistry and physiology [1]. However, he made little contribution to the field of human cytogenetics which is unstandable because when he died on 1 December, 1964 in Bubaneshwar this field was still in its infancy. Nonetheless, some basic questions in genetics put forward by Haldane can now be addressed by the cytogeneticist.
