To investigate the nature of feed cycling and food conversion ratio. a 6 week sudy was performed on mrigal. Cirrhinus ,;,rigala weighing 7-X g. Fishes were starved for O (control group-IA) and 3(experimental group-lB) weeks. The control fish were fed to satiation throughot the whole c\perimental period whereas 3 week starved fish were re-Id to satiation for 3 weeks. Weekly changes in weight gain, percentage weight gain, specific growth rate and food conversion ratio were monitored during re-feeding. No hyperphagy occurred in C. mrigala during re-feeding periods. However final results suggested that growth parameters were signilicantlY different (P<O.05) in case of control group as compared to experimental group suggesting that starvation followed by subsequent re-feeding did not play a role in more growth of Cirrhinus mrigala.
